food was semi decent, very flavorful, but there was way too much rice in ratio to meat for what we are paying for.. this itself dilutes the flavor a lot. additionally we ordered more because we wanted to properly experience the restaurant, but waited 50+ minutes and our food wasn't even being prepared. not anything they can't recover from-- they're severely lacking staff though. i can't justify coming here again for the food to cost ratio, the quality was there just incomplete by the ratio of rice. service didn't help. if they're still open in 6 months ill see what changed

New Sushi restaurant in Houston that is family owned. They have really good food, great environment and friendly staff. For the moment they are even including a complementary soup of the day! I’m very proud to be one of the first customers here

I had a great lunch here with my sister. The owner came out to greet us and was so sweet and helpful. We’ve been waiting for this restaurant to open, so we were excited. The owner explained that they’ve been making sushi in Thailand for 9 years and finally expanded to here in the US. They’re still in soft opening. Delicious food, fresh fish, and great prices! We tried a variety of things (Salmon Don, Bara Don, Crunchy Roll, Ankimo (monkfish liver), and I loved the Bara Don from their lunch menu! The portion size of the fish, avocado, and tamago was perfect. The rice was also perfectly cooked and seasoned. They even hand-grate their wasabi here, so the taste is very fresh. The restaurant is self-service style, and they have free unlimited soup—similar to Hokkaido and their sister restaurant Iwa Ya. The broth is clean and savory. I made sure to get a second bowl before leaving. My only critique is that the sauce for the crunchy roll was too sweet, but everything else was amazing. I see myself returning regularly, and I hope everyone gives ISAMU a chance!

The sushi was fresh and delicious! Ordering was super easy—you can order directly from your table or use the self-service kiosk. Both options are quick and convenient. The food came out fast, and everything tasted great. I would definitely come back again!
